- The collection of lead-containing materials, such as lead-acid car batteries, electric cables, pipes, among others, and processing more lead from nature is initiated.
Separation and sorting
- The collected materials are separated and sorted to facilitate the recycling process. For example, lead-acid batteries are separated from other items.
Smelting and Refining
- The mined lead undergoes a smelting process to convert it into ingots or other products suitable for further use.
- Refining is carried out to ensure purity and remove impurities, guaranteeing the quality of the lead.
Formation of ingots or final products
- Once refined, lead is cast into ingots or used to make new products.
- These products can include recycled batteries, lead sheet, or even new components for various applications.
Re-use in manufacturing
- Recycled lead ingots are used in the manufacture of products requiring this metal, thus closing the recycling cycle.
